Desert RATS: Rock Art Topographical Survey DVD
The rock art of Egypt’s Eastern Desert is a remarkable treasure house of images and symbols dating to the prehistoric, dynastic and later periods.
Anyone interested in the interaction of humans with the physical environment, the supernatural and each other is likely to be intrigued by this important DVD.
This is an invaluable resource containing over 2500 photographs of rock art images and sites in Egypt’s Eastern Desert, as well as maps, recording forms, survey reports, animal and boat identification charts, and an academic paper by Tony Judd on trade in the Roman Period.
This DVD is fully interactive and can be accessed from any standard web browser. It is PC and Apple Macintosh compatible.
Along with the photographs arranged by site are a number of images from adjacent sites which have been published in detail elsewhere, mainly in the works of Hans Winkler and David Rohl.
Mike and Maggie Morrow, Tony Judd and Geoff Phillipson (the Desert RATS team) have re-evaluated and updated reports on over 150 Eastern Desert sites, building on the pioneering work of Arthur Weigall, Hans Winkler and David Rohl.
All proceeds from the sale of this DVD by BSS will be re-invested in continuing research in this field.
The fully revised second edition of the Desert RATS volume (including the DVD) is available from Archaeopress, in their BAR International Series, No 2166, ISBN 978 1 4073 0710 7.
